Springtime at the Lake Quilting Retreat

HELLO LADIES!!!!

By popular demand, Copper City Stitchers is hosting our now annual Spring Retreat!  You’re invited to share in the fun, laughter, surprises and spending time with new and old friends.  There is a lot of information in this email, so if we’ve forgotten something or you have questions, call us at the store [(315)-794-0238] or email us at www.coppercitystitchers@gmail.com.

Please arrive anytime on or after 10 a.m. on Monday, April 15th.The address is 8912 Turin Road, Rome.  Look for a large sign that says Delta Lake Bible Conference Center on the east side of Turin Road (Route 26 across from the Rome Community Theater).  We must leave by 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19th.

Depending upon the registration, everybody should have their own private room for the week, unless you want to share with a friend.  All bed linens are supplied, but feel free to bring an extra blanket or your own pillow.  If you have back issues you may want to bring a mattress topper for added comfort.  The Center will supply one towel and one face cloth, so you may want to bring extras. Don't forget your toiletries and shower slippers.

Our meals will be served as follows:  B- 8:30 a.m., L- 12:30 p.m. and D- 5:30 p.m.  For those in-between cravings, please bring a snack to share on our munchies table.  There will be an endless supply of water, coffee and tea available all day.  If you prefer something different to drink, bring it along. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the grounds.

Each of you will have your own 8' table as your workspace and a chair.  We will provide two ironing stations, two large cutting tables and a design wall.  You are welcome to bring your own chair, if necessary, and if you will be listening to music, please be considerate of others and bring earbuds.

BRING:

  • Lots of projects!
  • Sewing machine, cords and pedals
  • Power strip, tower or extension cord as there will be one electrical outlet per table.  A power strip is ideal
  • Rulers, rotary cutters, etc.

OPTIONAL:

  • Extra light
  • Small cutting mat
  • Wool mat (with towel to protect the table) or tabletop ironing board
  • Mini iron

Last retreat we made pillowcases for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace charity.  We’re upping our game this retreat and making blocks to assemble into twin-sized quilts for the area’s disadvantaged children.  You may donate your own fabric or purchase a “deconstructed” block from us for $2 and a ticket for a drawing for a prize.  We will supply the patterns.  The collected money will go to finishing the quilts (purchase of the backing, batting, binding and quilting).  Please note that participation is voluntary.

Also, please bring a completed project for Thursday’s mini quilt show, i.e., quilts, toppers, runners, or any completed project to share.  We will award a People’s Choice Award, as well as a Conference Center Staff Choice Award.

We will have daily door prizes too!

The most important feature of the week is that we want you to relax and enjoy yourself!  If you’re not a quilter, bring your hobby or just that book you’ve been wanting to read.  Staring into space or at the lake are also acceptable pastimes.

Lastly, but importantly, we need your emergency contact information; please give us a sealed envelope with your name on the front that contains your contact’s name and phone number, as well as any health issues of which you may be aware.  We will not break the seal unless necessary.

Also, please let us know if you have special dietary restrictions.  We will give them to the cook staff.  They are very good at offering alternate items at meals.  All information will be kept strictly confidential.

Questions?  Call us or email us.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Springtime at the Lake!
